One rant does NOT spark a fandom war people. Get that through your heads. If a fandom war breaks out because of it, whose fault do you think it will be?

The funny thing is, the origin of this whole mess and the counter-origin of it isn't even on my friends list. I've been offline from AIM for the past two days. How do you suppose I found out about it? Because I've been seeing mention of it everywhere else ON my friends list. I love you people, but we're not really doing anything to make it better are we?

Let me talk about GetBackers. It's one of those series' I've never talked about on my blog, and this one's long overdue.

The second link of Ban and Ginji is nice enough, but what I'm actually pointing you over to is the first pic, which happens to include Kazuki in, you guessed it, yet another dress.

I'm sorry. I know I have a couple of GB fans on my friends list, I'm not looking to diss the series, but this is just one of the things I really HATE about it. When the GB anime first started airing I'd just recently discovered the manga, so when they announced the anime I was pretty excited about it. And oh wow, how much I loved the first few episodes. I loved Akabane, I loved even more how Tobita Nobuo voiced him. When Kazuki came out I just about keeled over at the sound of his voice. It didn't beat out Akabane (because Akabane makes this series for me), but it came dangerously close. Let us imagine how much I gaped and then swooned after I found out he was being voiced by Hoshi Souichirou. Kazuki was my second GB love.

And then it all fell apart.

I know some people (*cough*koutenkensoubiless*cough*) would argue that this series isn't at all gay, and geez, I really wish I could view this series in their eyes. Because what does one do with a series where the ghei subtext isn't subtext at all? I'm not interested in slashing any of the GB characters (yes, not even Ban and Ginji), but mostly because this series has lost all interest for me except for the pretty eyecandy, and honey, in this day and age, eyecandy simply isn't enough to hold your attention anymore.

I understand playing up on Kazuki's effeminateness. Once can be considered amusing, twice is still forgivable, but more than that and so blatantly and it just gets under your skin and rubs your nerves raw. It might have been alright if GB had this 'OMG This is just soooooo good' plot behind it, but let's face it, it doesn't. At least not one that interests me enough to forgive the blatant ghei fanservice.

Bleh.

In the same manner, I can write a similar rant about what I hate about Peacemaker Kurogane, but I think I've made enough people indignant with this post.

Don't get me wrong though, I like PMK (the manga more than the anime), but I'm still trying not to hate their Okita. In fact, I have yet to bring myself to get further into this series mainly because I still cannot stand their Okita. In Okita's case however, it's not really overdone. He may look just a wee bit too feminine, but at least it stops there for the most part (although sometimes, sometimes they toe the line). If it had been any other character then I probably wouldn't have minded so much. But I've always been a big fan of the Shinsengumi, and Okita one of my favorite members, and how I absolutely hated his character design for PMK when I first saw it. (I still do.) God knows I wanted to tear the manga to shreds when I was reading through it. I kept reading PMK though despite the rather offending-but-sometimes-disturbingly-cute Okita because the story interested me enough. I'm hoping some day PMK!Okita will grow on me. Maybe.

Sorry, that ended up becoming an PMK!Okita semi-rant. But that's really been eating away at me too.

*stares in horror at the Naruto Yaoi ML* (although really, what did I expect, huh?)

Shikamaru is simply NOT slashed you bastards! That's just wrong. With Chouji, or with Neji or with Naruto or with anyone else for that matter. I'm not even too keen on seeing him with Ino, which makes the most sense to me really (yes, yes, I know he said he hated women). But it's not even about making sense, because god forbid that yaoi make sense, but oooh. Leave him aloooonneee!! >.<

That aside, it's about time Chouji got the spotlight for himself! There needs to have been a reason for Shikamaru to believe in Chouji after all (a few chapters back, when Shikamaru first became chuunin), and it's not just blind trust on your teammate. He's simply not the type.

I really want to see more of Neji. Particularly, more of Neji and whatever changes in character that Hiashi's confession may have brought on. Hate that extreme simply isn't healthy you know. Why, look at Sasuke, he's a prime example of that. Chapter 105 is still one of my favorite chapters to date. XD


Is it just me, or did AnimeForever pick up nearly all the new titles out this season?

I have to go in a few, so I don't have time to comment on this, but I wanted to link to it.

lyntek has just posted an entry that deals with sharing fanart on the web without due credit to its original artist. Is finding it somewhere else that doesn't give credit to the artist either reason enough? It's not like you're claiming it's yours right? 'That can't be a bad thing, I just want to share.' Guess again.

I'm not an artist, but a lot of my friends are and I appreciate pretty art as much as the next. I just make sure to link back to the site or credit the artist when I do so. Do you?

Having it on your harddrive is one thing. Putting it up on the web to share to others where it can circulate and keep on circulating without anyone knowing who the artist is at all is another.

And Lyn! Where the !#%@%^ have you been?! I haven't seen you on in AIM for over a month. Two months even. Wench.

All things considered, it was a good way to end the series, if it hadn't been for a thing or two, I probably wouldn't have any complaints at all. I might have more thoughts on it once the subs come out.

I'm in rant mode now. I don't explain anything, so you won't understand a thing I'm ranting about unless if you've seen the episode.

( The one thing that keeps LE from being a perfectly happy ending. And probably one of the STUPIDEST things I've ever seen them do. Utter senseless babble up ahead. AND ATHENE IF YOU CLICK ON THIS I'LL KILL YOU FOR SPOILING YOURSELF! )

I've finally gotten around to watching Wolf's Rain 10-13 because some idiot in wolfsrain can't seem to understand the very thin line between vague unspoilerish details not put behind the cut and people who actually have sense enough to make sense of vague unspoilerish details that it becomes a spoiler. Grr.

While talking to Lyn in AIM this morning, I ended up throwing a right, indignant fit.

Yes, yes, I did. Damn it. And who wouldn't?! Do you realize how much of my time this pairing alone eats up? A lot. As in, a LOT. You know, italicized and in caps too. I mean it. It takes up a humongous amount of my time just reading fics. It's an epidemic. No single pairing should eat up hours of your time daily. It's just not done. I don't even write for this pairing. I want out. *weep* I would have so much more time if it weren't for these two.

So. That little rant aside, you must read this drabble. Because it is good drabble. It is good drabble that needs to be made into a fic. As in, a real lengthy epic fic. To feed that Harry/Draco addiction I was just complaining about.

I'm not scared of your flamethrower, wench. Come at me. I'll still bury you under a pile of Harry/Draco fic recs. ph34r m3!
