mostly Radiata babble

I am behind on news but GRANDIA III FOR IMPORT. There is a god. <3 There's another game to add to the list of things that will eat up my time in the future. As you can most likely guess from the fact that I am (gasp!) posting in LJ, I haven't gotten my hands on FF3 or Rhapsodia yet.

Watched the Harry Potter movie last night with Eks. I wasn't really planning to watch it until at least 2 weeks after opening, but Eks wanted to see it and I haven't seen her in ages, so I ended up watching it on opening night. I barely remember the 4th book, which I suppose might be a good thing as I couldn't really compare. My biggest gripe is not being treated to more dragons. The Weasley twins steal the show and my sister's boyfriend insists that Harry is gay. So tell me something we don't know.

Has anyone else been watching the Extra Challenge episodes as of late? The one in Egypt? Wow. It's like, Richard Gomez x Joey Marquez vibes! Richard is more concerned over Joey who is on the opposing team than in his female partner. He tells Joey to be careful. He helps him up when he slips. He helps him out of the go cart... "I was really worried about Joey!" Uh-huh.

Digital Devil Saga Avatar Tuner 2
Status: finished
Since I did all the fangirling over this game with Mich and Ari I don't really have anything left to say about it here. I really did rush through this game because I had a 'finish before Mich leaves for China' deadline. *slaps her* I'm planning to replay it again and to take the time to fight the optional bosses, but that won't be anytime soon.

Radiata Stories
Status: finished + optional dungeon + alternate path
Played. Started over. Finished. Optional dungeon. Replayed. Done. My first playthrough was scrapped 40 hours in because I discovered I'd missed being able to recruit all the charactersfor the human path by missing a few missions. So I did it all over again, this time correctly, which I don't really regret, because I personally think Radiata's lasting charm is in the characters you recruit and the headache of recruiting them (I kid you not), because the story isn't exactly the game's strong point.

You know the best part about the characters in this game? HEALERS THAT CAN KICK ASS. Seriously, Olacion Order had more useful characters (attack-wise) than any of the other guilds. You'd think that Theater Vancoor at least, being the warrior guild would have more useful characters. *counts*

Olacion: Fernando, Godwin, Kain, Miranda, Vitas, Alvin
Vancoor: Elwen (but she can seriously take anyone else in this game on), Gerald, Caesar, Alicia

Though I didn't really take the time to try all the characters, so I could be missing others.

Random impressions on characters and spoilers for the human / non-human paths.

Overall, I repeat that most of my enjoyment came from recruiting characters and switching between to see what each could do. I'll probably play through the optional dungeon a few times with different parties just to get a feel of the other characters that I have yet to play.

Gothika, SH & FMwS

I want to change my icon set. All 50 of them. Well not all, as some are definitely going to stay. Like the Aku Soku Zan icon. XD I've got way too many PoT icons though. I need more vidgame icons and ones from other series' I watch. -_- 50 icons is not enough. Why can't you just use up the space they allot for phone posts to store icons in if you're not using it for the phone posts anyway?

Watched Gothika with [info]caillen today (yesterday). And because we're such smart girls, we'd both had zero hours of sleep for more than 24 hours by then and we were both wanting to sleep during the movie. That aside, we were both annoyed midway through the film, and when I'm annoyed (if I don't like a movie I get restless a whole lot quicker), I start making sarcastic commentary on the movie. At least the theater was rather empty and we didn't have anyone seated near us to get bothered by it. I mean come on, I even started telling a story about playing Silent Hill in the middle of it, although Swyth started it, because she was teasing me about the shadow babies*. >.> So that is to say, we obviously didn't think much of it. The movie is pulled off nicely in terms of effect and acting, but the story is mediocre at best. The Limp Bizkit song used is nice at least.

* To anyone who's played Silent Hill (the first one), you know those shadow babies you see occasionally in the school? The ones that squeak but don't harm you at all? I HATE THEM. They freak the shit out of me. When I was replaying this game once with [info]cugami I had to shove the controller at her every time there was one of those things in the vicinity. Give me mutated kids. Give me giant ugly bugs. Heck, give me that stupid worm/lizard (? I forget) boss thing you have to fight after you finish the school, but don't give me a roomful of those squeaky, walking, shadowy things. >.> P.S. Also, never make [info]cugami play a serious survival horror game you're playing (for gods sake save on another slot!). She's very trigger happy, you'll be stuck using your knife or your metal pipe sooner than expected. *makes a face at her* :P

And this is why I can finish an entire Resident Evil game in a pitch-black room but cannot play the school stage of Silent Hill unless if it's daytime (or if I have someone with me I can shove the controller at). This is also the reason why my friends are The Evil and won't ever let me forget it.

Much delayed reaction to Full Moon wo Sagashite, as [info]caillen has already finished watching it. The old post I had written was rather incoherent, as I wrote it shortly after finishing the series, so this is my more coherent version. [info]soubiless, eventhough you're already spoiled for that, don't read this still, as it contains other spoilers.

Matrix Reloaded

Well, I watched Matrix Reloaded yesterday with [info]eksdj. I didn't like the movie. In fact, the only thing I liked about it that would make me want to watch it again is Merovingian (played by Lambert Wilson). Since he's only in a very short segment of the movie, I guess that doesn't count much for rewatchability in my book. (And the Ducati!) Everything else was nothing special.

Please don't tell me about the impressive fight scenes, because they weren't. We've seen it all in the first Matrix movie, now we're just given a fancier, not to mention much longer version of the fight scenes. It gets old rather quick, especially since I can't exactly be impressed with it because you know they're just about impossible in real life. Where's the impressive factor in that? The special effects? I'll give them that.

Every time Morpheus opened his mouth to make a speech I felt like kicking him in the balls. I just wanted him to shut up. They were long-winded speeches, they were bad speeches, he says nothing that we don't already know. The first time he made a speech over at Zion I nearly gurgled unintelligebly in my seat in utter mortification. By the time the credits came up and the lights went on the first thing I did was turn to stare at Eks in utter disbelief. We were both like, "Oh my god I didn't like it."

The one other thing I did like about Matrix Reload was Zion. Gods, Zion is the be all and end all of that movie. It is the only thing in the entire film that can make me stare. I loved it. I loved how raw the city felt and how alive. I love how this underground city was all about secrets and survival and second chances (sans the orgy rave parties masqueraded as general assemblies). I just think it was a lovely city.

How Eks and I managed to get FREE Podium tickets to Matrix Reloaded )

By the way Charles, the role that Aaliyah was supposed to play was Zee, not Niobe. So it was Nona Gaye that took her place. Sorry about that.

it is time for much incoherence

Icon stolen from [info]northmark because Tor is the coolest and she won't hate me even if it now means our icons are almost identical until I get my photoshop installed. ^_^v

---

I knew I should have put those fic recs up in Gutter Press when I had the chance. ;_; Now I'd be damned if I can remember where to find all those fics I wanted to rec.

I owe people icons. Except I am currently unable to do any, because I don't have photoshop installed, because somebody borrowed my installer and lost it and it's not like I can get mad at him because he's much much older than I am and we're related. (Not my dad though. I wouldn't have trouble demanding a replacement if my dad lost my Adobe installers.)

Who has episodes 1-26 of Tokyo Underground? I stopped following this series at episode 2, but then [info]maiki plays devil's advocate and posts a link to this screencap (courtesy of [info]bakadoushi) and now I am curious because leather collars have never failed to do me in.

---

So anyway, I went to watch X2 last Tuesday, yea? I only have one thing to say about the entire movie.

ALAN CUMMING IS DA BOMB!

No. Wait, that can't be right. No fangirling over actors, say I. So-

NIGHTCRAWLER IS DA BOMB! <3
