One rant does NOT spark a fandom war people. Get that through your heads. If a fandom war breaks out because of it, whose fault do you think it will be?

The funny thing is, the origin of this whole mess and the counter-origin of it isn't even on my friends list. I've been offline from AIM for the past two days. How do you suppose I found out about it? Because I've been seeing mention of it everywhere else ON my friends list. I love you people, but we're not really doing anything to make it better are we?

My TeniPuri pairing woes

I'm sick and tired of hating all the pairings that majority of this fandom loves. Just ONCE, I'd want to actually LIKE one of the fandom's popular pairings to keep me sane.

More. If you don't want to hate me, you probably shouldn't read on. )

Edit: On a more positive note, I finally got around to making a [journal banner]. Temporary, I don't really like how it turned out, but I'll keep it for a while, as that border was a bitch to make. The image is from Tsutomu Nihei's oneshot title, Noise, a sort of prequel to Blame!. I loved Noise, it had a great ending, and the art and paneling lends itself well for layout possibilities. I've been meaning to make a layout out of it for years, but alas, all it gets is a journal banner. =/

So what's YOUR most embarrassing fandom experience?

So I figure Tin will probably give me a good whacking the next time she sees me for linking this, but I figure one should not let such a good story go to waste.

A long time ago (well not really, just 6 years) when I was a newbie to the anime online community (yea, we were all n00bs once, weren't we?), I learned the wonders of what was called fanfiction. While YYH was the first fandom I was ever in, the first ever series I wrote fic for was B't X. The B't X fandom was nonexistent. I could write anything I wanted to without fear of being ostracized, even shameless sap. So I did. Sap by the bucketful too. They were the kind of fic you look back on now and have seizures over (heck, I have twitching fits on some of the fics I wrote two years ago). They're the kind of fics that make you think, 'Dear god, I have improved as a writer.' They also happen to be the type of fics your friends like to MST. >P

In a nutshell, Ari, M, Tin and Miao MSTed one of my fics, once a long long time ago, back when they did not know me. I wasn't supposed to find out, but I did. How? You can read all about it [here]. This happened over two years ago, but hey, it remains to be one of the most amusing things that's ever happened which I can remember.

So, when are you guys coming over next? ^____^ (dude, that evil Fuji smile is contagious)

P.S. I am also shamelessly using this post to show off my newest icon. Courtesy of FMA 13 and Lt. Hawkeye's mad dog training skillz. Learn from the best. >D

Oh how far the mighty have fallen. Or in this case, I have fallen.

Me = New fandom. Not telling, because I will be skewered. ;_;

I go bang my head against the wall now. Yes.

I love how us fangirls seem to be on the same wavelength even when we don't know each other. Just a couple of days ago I was thinking over the lack of a TeniPuri LJ community and was this close to making one. And although I was thinking of a general community and not a yaoi one, this, at least, means that there's now a Prince of Tennis community in LJ. [info]tenipuri_yaoi

on reviewing

How many of the fic writers out there think you have to review someone else's fic just because said person reviewed one of yours? You don't even have to think that you should, but have done so anyway in the past.

This brought on by my paranoia that some authors may think the only reason I've reviewed them is because they reviewed a fic I've written. Which I realize has been happening lately, but it's not because I feel I have to return the favor.

In a fandom where majority of the fanfic written isn't even worth the effort nor the frustration of reading through it, one of the more effective ways of filtering out authors (other than fic/author recs) are by their reviews. Good reviewers usually mean good writers, or at least writers that won't want to make me weep or strangle someone by the third paragraph. It doesn't have to be a long review, even oneliner reviews are enough to tell by. It's a good way of finding readable authors, just as much as fic recs and the way they write their fic summaries.

And so, if you happened to have reviewed a fic of mine and then I ended up reviewing one of yours a few days later, it's not because I felt compelled to do so, but because I wanted to. I never review anything unless if I liked it enough to want to review it. There have been good fics written that I haven't felt like reviewing because it simply wasn't my type of fic. I won't bother reviewing a fic I don't like merely because the author has reviewed my own, because I sure as heck wouldn't want someone else to review something I've written because I reviewed one of hers.

challenge etiquette?

Is there such a thing?

Let's say, you issue a challenge somewhere. Are you required to comment on every fic written for that challenge? Would it be rude not to?

Also, I miss being in an RPG. I joined an online RPG shortly after I entered the online community, and it had some of the coolest people in it. Of the five years since, I've barely gone without being part of at least one online RPG. This is probably the longest that I've gone without one.

Gee. Am I making this sound like an addiction? XP
