[mgs4] where is my cardboard box?

[media] E3 2006

Jen wanted the higher resolution trailers from IGN's coverage of E3 for a few game titles, so had to upload them to my server. Thought I might as well share to anyone on the flist who'd be interested, since my bandwidth is not being used at all.

.hack//GU (PS2) (gameplay footage) [download] [link]
Gameplay seems much improved from the original .hack series, thank god! I'm still stuck on the third installment for that, I should probably get around to finishing it already. I still like Haseo, and I love his chainsaw sword, so I'd want to play if only just for that. Besides, I still want to know what was up with Kite in that game preview they released last year. =/ I hope, hope, hope, the battle system is much improved. I couldn't really tell by much how it goes from the footage.

*___* If there was one game slated for the PS3 that I REALLYREALLYREALLY want to play and which I'll be crying over the most when it comes out and I don't have a PS3. Then this would be it. Instead of using pure stealth to reach your target, kill and get away. You instead have to use your environment to your advantage. From blending into the crowd and not calling too much attention to yourself (ie. if you shove people out of the way, they'll react accordingly, and the more attention you call to yourself the less likely that the guards will notice you), to getting the job done and running for your life after the kill. You're also able to interact with some of the citizens and help them in some way, and if you do, they may later on help conceal you after a job is done, or if you don't help, give you trouble afterwards.

Final Fantasy XIII (PS3) [download] [link]
Well, who hasn't heard of this already. Not much to say on this game. We already knew it was going to be pretty.

Heavently Sword (PS3) [download] [link]
IGN likened it to God of War. (Which is a good thing!) Wasn't really interested enough to read the articles on it.

Ninety-Nine Nights (Xbox 360) [download] [link]
The graphics are stunning, I'll give it that. Hack and slash taken to a whole new level. My eyes actually hurt a bit after watching this movie. Which is utterly pathetic, I'm not sure why my eyes started hurting with fast-paced gaming. It brought my Dynasty Warriors gaming to a halt. =/

Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3) [download] [link]
Either you love it or you don't. :P Raiden! Though I will not be looking forward to this game until I actually finish MGS3, which has been in the backburner since forever.

Rogue Galaxy (PS2) [download] [link]
Might be my pleasant surprise of the year, it may not. Don't really have opinions on this game, so I'll see once it actually gets released and I find the time to play it.

Tekken 6 (PS3) [download] [link]
Where there's Jin, there has to be Hwoarang~.

WarDevil (PS3) [download] [link]
One of the few games running on the PS3's full 1080p res.

I WANT MY [OKAMI]. ;____; US release date so far away.

Comments

.hack//GU looks about fifty times better than the original games. (Even though I liked them. *cough*) At the least, the story looks a lot more interesting.

Thanks for putting these up! Especially since I've paid almost zero attention to all the press release stuff. ♥

What I really want to see is the trailer for FF vs. XIII, but it is not to be found. *woe*
I did like the original .hack games, to a point. Though it got tiring after a while, mostly because managing my EQ was driving me nuts. And the dungeons were so... similar to each other. Wasn't too fond of the battle system either, so I'm really hoping the //GU series sports a better battle system.

Same here. The versus hero looks hot. *admits to her superficiality* No trailer yet though. =/
.hack was nice because I'd come home and play it after the most tedious day of school and it was absolutely mindless.

And yes. *will admit to superficiality, too* Very, very pretty.
It is pretty mindless, isn't it? :D I think I threw in my controller for the game when I got obsessed about my eq. Now that took me forever to do each time. So I just gave up in the end. Now what I want to know is whether //GU loads a saved game from the 4th installment of .hack. The remember my save file for this game (and I was only at the beginning of 3rd), was huge.

Red eyes! :x
The mindlessness is part of its charm~! (I totally cheated on the eq, btw, and just looked up gamefaqs to get myself the super awesome cool weapons of the installment as soon as I could. Of course, you only get the characters who do massive amounts of damage AFTER you beat the fourth part.)

I think it's pretty unlikely they'll have a save file from ...Quarantine, I think the last one was? It'd be nice, though, just as some reward for getting through them all. xD

And not weird, creepy looking ones, either! Pretty, SHINY red eyes. *.*
Geh. I should check out gamefaqs next time I pick up the game as well, just so I can actually finish the games. Wait. AFTER you beat the fourth part? So... you can only play them on new game+? They actually want you to play through all that mindlessness AGAIN? *stabs them*

A reward to getting through all four parts would be nice. Like.. unlocking superpowered up Kite as a playable character in GU! Yea. Still so curious what was up with that preview.

*hopes pretty red eyed bishie is not as annoying as Squall (or Cloud)*
Noooo, .hack doesn't have New Game+. You just get a ridiculously long extra dungeon to play with and can have Orca, Helba, and some of the .hack//SIGN characters in your party. And Helba, being the 1337 hacker that she is, does massive, massive amounts of damage. Which is good, because the extra dungeon will have you SCREAMING since it's like... 15 floors of data bug monsters.

Apparently your PC in GU can transform into a Skeith-ish thing in order to data drain? And all of the eight phases are now you/NPC characters instead of just the boss battles.

*...still hasn't played FFVIII or FFVII but not annoying would be good, yes!*
*just posting for no apparent reason other than seeing 3 DDS icons of this pairing*

*thinks that is a good enough reason to post*

And now that I am finally home, I will maybe get around to playing DDS2!
*adds to the otp icon collection*

Woohoo! Then after that you must play Suikoden V. *nod*
*shriek* You realize when I am broke and living in a cardboard box it will be ALL YOUR FAULT?
Okay, I only have 2 icons of this pair, so I use Raiden instead because he knows the importance of cardboard boxes too.

But you would have had lots of fun beforehand! :D
*thumbs up for Raiden and his knowledge of boxes!*

...but then I wouldn't have anywhere to use the PS2 after I got kicked out to the street. :x
Fangirls have a limitless amount of resources at their beck and call. *does not lose faith!*
Those MGS4 in-game shots are insanely gorgeous *_*
*AGREES* And Raiden is so much hotter. (Though I suppose one can attribute this to the fact that well... MGS4 graphics is so much better.) And the fact that he looks manlier. ♥

*uses raiden icon yet again*
I was interested by Rogue Galaxy just a bit before E3. I really hope it comes out good, the way combats are done seem cool XD

Drags you in getting a Wii and play The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess with me! There are romantic boat trips fishing, and fishing and fighting with the controller seems so much fun (and funny) just watching it! (though the guy in that last link is kind of traumatizing ^^;;)
um, you might like Ar Tonelico. i just found it out today, while surfing around on NIS (the E3 trailer looks awesome). More movies and characters, worlds, etc in the official website. it has some Atelier Iris styles (well, they come from the same company), but you can customize your armors, and use songs as/for magic and so many other things ^^ just linking around XD
Got distracted by Disgaea 2 immediately after the NIS site loaded. :D

It's sad that the first thing I think of once Ar Tonelico's official site loads is, "Same composer (Atelier Iris)." So I had to go and search for its composer, and sure enough, both Ken Nakagawa and Daisuke Achiwa worked on the Ar Tonelico OST. Though wasn't very fond of the Atelier Iris OST overall, so it doesn't really make a difference to me.

Spectral Souls II interests me more though, if only because I like huge casts of characters, and they seem to have a handful. Would have been more interested in Blade Dancer if they'd shown more than just 4 characters. Overall, NIS seems to have a promising lineup of games, thanks for the link!

Though seeing all the old-school game types being imported nowadays, I still wish they'd imported Venus and Braves. Such a good game. *__*
I hadn't heard anything of it until E3 actually, but then I hadn't checked up much on game news for a while until now. The E3 trailer for it was lackluster and looked cheap to me, but it seems to show promise, if the articles are anything to go by. (And IGN and I tend to agree on a lot of games.) Was rather surprised to see it came from Dragon Quest VIII (also a plus on my book), as it reminded me more of Wild Arms, though that might just be because of the color palette they use for the game.

I'm already weeping over the cost of the PS3, and the years it will take for me to get one. Unless I win the lottery, a Wii is pretty much out of the question. =(
Yes, Assassin's Creed! I thought I didn't know anyone else excited for this game. I'm glad there's at least one PS3 title with a solid gameplay concept.

You might want to check out IGN's article on the Indiana Jones PS3 game, if you haven't already.

And, uh, my last save for MGS3 was dated January 2005 before I finished it yesterday. Better late than never!

P.S. I want Okami, too. :(
I'm hoping it doesn't disappoint. Sounds like so much fun. :x

OMG. Wtf is that?! Why does it have to sound SO GOOD. *__* I tend to ignore movie-game adaptions, but damn, if the game actually delivers I'd have to pic that title up too.

Was trying to look for my MGS3 disc and couldn't find it anywhere. Though I'm pretty sure I have it... I remember playing it! :/
Leeching Assassin's Creed... cause I was reading 9 ban me no Musashi lately so I'm rather interested in this kind of story...

Might leech others too later.. might, because the files seem... big? @_@

Thanks for sharing though~ *glomps*
All the files together take up 460mb. The 99 Nights movie is the biggest at 158mb. Assassin's Creed and MGS4 was also rather big (70-88mb), but everything else ranges from 11-40mb give or take.

You're welcome. Hope you enjoy!
...I totally forgot about this before, but have you been watching .hack//ROOTS?
No~. Should I be? Haven't been downloading any of the new series'.
I like it. It's definitely a lot better than .hack//SIGN, which was too slow paced and boring for me to get through. And Haseo's a much more interesting character than Tsukasa. ROOTS is a lot more of a prologue to GU than SIGN was to the other games.

If you want, I can upload the episodes for you. There're only six out so far. (And Tri-Edge is supposed to show up in the next one, eeeeeee!)
:O Hoh. Haseo be the key word here. But Haseo interests me, so now I want to watch. //SIGN bored me and I never got past episode 3. Does it spoil the previous game series though? Since I haven't finished the 3rd and 4th installment, I might get spoiled for it. =/

It's alright, I can always download via torrent. Just haven't been downloading anything through lack of space. If I somehow can't download, I will bug you to upload! :x
No spoilers so far. The World, in ROOTS and GU, got an upgrade, so there are a few places you may recognize from the older series, but nothing that gives away anything. And some stuff that will make you go !!! but nothing spoilery.

Just lemme know~
Ooh. Yey! Will put it on top of my list of things to download when... XD
this is not connected to your post but this just get my attention:
armed and dangerous and sporting a non-too natural perm

u got a perm?
Oooi. And nope, did not get a perm. It was just in slight reference to Gintama actually. Oh hey, since i'm replying and all. I do read your lj! It's just that I start to write a comment, and it gets long and then I get lazy. So I never end up commenting.
hahaha i thought you did. im getting one on my birthday. hahahah!! going to puerto galera today!
